Opening: Voices of the Mediterranean

G((o))ng Tomorrow’s festival opening will feature seven solo singers and brand-new works by composers from the Mediterranean region.

Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart is Europe’s most virtuoso vocal ensemble for contemporary music. This evening they will give voice to the Mediterranean region and bring compositions from Turkey, Lebanon and Syria to Copenhagen for the first time. Experience musical traditions that are presented all too rarely in Europe, and get right up close to composers from one of the most heterogeneous regions in the world.

You can also look forward to a world premiere by the major Greek composer Georges Aperghis, who has taken the European new music scene by storm with his humorous and elegant style.

Odes to Mustapha Skandrani

Jacob Anderskov presents a new quartet that will fill KoncertKirken with interpretations of the Algerian-Turkish pianist and composer Mustapha Skandrani at this late night concert. Right up until his death in 2005 he wrote orchestral works and over 300 modern chaâbi – popular dance tunes used for weddings and festive occasions in Algeria.
