Topos // Gong Tomorrow
Topos is a newly formed cross-media platform created by the artists Jacob Kirkegaard, Tobias R. Kirstein and Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard. They each explore, research, and cross medias, genres and subjects. Topos reflects different practices and offers the opportunity to develop and present new aesthetic ways of thinking.
Topos: Anatomy of a Building (2019)
Topos transforms Copenhagen Contemporary into an sound installation. By installing microphones and speakers into CC's large ventilation system, the tubes' own interior space and acoustics come into play. The building, the space and its inner peristalsis constitute the exhibition itself.
Jacob Kirkegaard: Opus Crematio (2019)
Created from audio recordings of the cremation of a human. The piece starts with the coffin being rolled into the oven, after which the body is burnt. The bone remnants are then scraped out with a long fork and cooled in the cooling cabinet. Eventually, the bones are crushed by the so-called bone spreader and poured into the urn. All sounds are recorded with vibration sensors clamped to the surface of the machinery. This gives an audible insight into the interior of the oven, the cooling cabinet and the bone crusher itself.
TR Kirstein: Beelzebub (2019)
Audible close-ups of flies. The fly rummages through everything, absorbs everything, spreads disease, cleans wounds, moves constantly, swarms chaotically in droves. In that sense, it is pure, unrestrained will. A will for change, mutations, combinations and opportunities. Kirstein will perform his new release on Topos in a special edition. Kirstein also reads from his forthcoming book on revolutions.
Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard: Personal Sensitive Music - No. 1/Z074-193-875 (2019)
NemID is a condition that all citizens of Denmark are subject to. Through a number of works, Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard examines the NemID key card, which on one hand appears alienating, and on the other hand is one of the most personal items we carry around.
When a NemID card is used up, the key card remains as a testimony of actions ranging from logging on to public databases, filing for divorce and the purchase of a house - an instrumental summary of life actions over time. ‘Personal Sensitive Music - No. 1/Z074-193-875’ is thus the first work in which Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard approaches the NemID card as a score - to subsequently translate it into music in order to better understand this condition. ‘Personal Sensitive Music - No. 1/Z074-193-875’ will be played on alto recorder.
Guds söner (The Sons of God) (SE)
Swedish performance duo consisting of Kent Tankred and Leif Elggren. They have been active since the late 80's and describe themselves as follows:
- Guds söner’s field of activity can be described as an investigation of a mental airspace, undertaken with the aid of unconventional tools. The aural aspect is important, but equal care is devoted to the visual.
- Guds söner is often augmented with supplementary performers who then also influence the ideas and their expression.
- Guds söner put themselves at the disposal of civil defence and strive to imbue fortitude and courage.
Maxe: 5 rounds for boxer and acoustic guitar
Through 5 rounds of 3 minutes, featherweight songwriter Maxe 'Still Tough and a Cutie' Alicia meets the acoustic guitar in an exploration of the relationship between the songwriter and their tools. '5 rounds for boxer and acoustic guitar' is a performance, a training session, a concert, a documentation, a technical training session, a compositional work, a video work and a potential reconciliation.
Provides a concentrated dose of sonic discomfort. With primitive machine gun salvos of micro songs, blast beats, unbearable, chaotic noise, field recordings and rhino roaring, Martin Weile and Janus Welling invite you to dance.
Transfer of Value (2018)
'Transfer of Value' is a performance in which the audience envisions a piece of music - an imaginary piece of music that can only be heard by listening with the inner ear. As the audience creates the imagined music and the work being listened to, they become co-creators and receive some of the rights from the performance of 'Transfer of Value' this evening at CC. Simply enter your name and KODA number at the entrance and you will automatically receive a payment from KODA.

Copenhagen Contemporary (CC) is Copenhagen’s international art center showing installation art created by world stars and new emerging talents. CC occupies the magnificent former B&W welding hall offering a total of 7,000 m2 of beautiful industrial halls with plenty of space to show the technical and large formats in which many contemporary artists work: total installations, performance art, and monumental video works. Art that can often be entered and sensed with the whole body.
